About (Original Story)

In the original story Luz Mala kills everyone that goes near it by releasing a toxic gas. People that have survived have reported seeing ancient things underneath the light. "Legend has it that the light is a soul broken out of the celestial sphere, crying in pain." In stories men are tempted to go towards the light, leading to their demise.

About (My Recreation)

In the original the light is evil, but in my story the light helps the characters (Odilia, Juanita, Pita, Delia, Velia). The light in my story can also change colors depending on its mood. There is still some things from the original story like that the light gives out toxic fumes, or that they are tempted to go towards it.

The Story

As we were running the opposite way of the chupacabra, Pita noticed a light on a hill. "It must be Hacienda Dorada! Or maybe a person!" With one quick glance at the map Teresita gave us, my stomach dropped in fear. "No Pita, there wouldn't be anybody out here we are too far away…" I said with a suspicious look towards the light. Pita insisted we go towards it, I could tell Juanita was suspicious as well. "Oh come on Odilia, Teresita only mentioned 3 curses, we're fine!" Velia said with a mean look directed right at me. Delia agreed with her twin, which I figured would happen.

So, we made our way towards the light, Pita in front. As soon as we reached the light Pita got overly excited and claimed the light was "talking" to her. This made me want to take my sisters and run as far and fast as I could. A little while later I decided nothing too suspicious had happened yet… so I let the light join us for our journey. Which was a good idea because the batteries in our flashlight had just died.

After walking for around 20 minutes, it became very foggy, and my vision had gotten blurry. I could tell I was stumbling around to find my sisters. But they were already unconscious on the floor. When I woke up, my sisters were nowhere to be seen. The only person or thing around me was the light, but instead of being sort of orange, it was now purple and still very foggy.

When my eyes finally adjust I see fur and blood everywhere. "What happened here? Oh right, you only talk to Pita." "No." the light replied in a firm voice. "What happened is I protected you and your sisters from the evil beast that was following you… tracking you by scent." As I looked around at the fur I noticed what the light had "protected" us from. "YOU KILLED HIM?!" It was Chencho. The boy who had tried to help us, and eat us.

As my sisters walked into the room hearing how upset I was, they tried telling me we had to leave and find Abuelita's house. It was still dark so we needed the light. I let it come, but I walked in the back and made the light stay closely between me and Juanita. Something I hadn't noticed before was that the fog was gone and the light was yellow.

After about 20 more minutes of walking the light disappeared. "Uh, guys…" I see all their heads fly back and notice what I noticed. "No! It can't be gone! It said it would stay with us forever!" Pita said trying to hold back the tears. I looked behind me just in case, it was nowhere to be seen. As I kept looking back I saw a very faint light, this made me smile. I knew it was the light. But why had it helped us? I knew I would never get an answer to this. But at least we finally made it to Hacienda Dorada.
